SavetheBlue is an initiative by Blue Nectar, a provider of luxurious Ayurvedic products. It's a crucial effort aimed at increasing underground water levels, given that India possesses only 4% of global water resources yet supports 18% of the population. The urgency to act is clear.

The objective of #SaveTheBlue? 

At the heart of this endeavor lies SaveTheBlue, a comprehensive conservation effort to safeguard water resources and promote sustainable practices such as rainwater harvesting.   

Rainwater harvesting, a simple and effective process, can help refill underground water supplies. By capturing and storing rain, we can increase the amount of water that seeps into the ground. This helps maintain the water levels in wells and keeps the soil healthy. It's a practical way to ensure we have enough water for the future. 

Water conservation 

  • Water conservation is vital for our planet's sustainability, ensuring water availability for future generations.  
  • It involves using water responsibly in all aspects of life. Conserving water addresses shortages, eases the strain on sources, lessens drought impact, and protects ecosystems.  
  • Balancing current needs with future availability is critical. Solutions range from efficient irrigation to fixing leaks and using water-saving appliances. Education is crucial for promoting conservation.  
  • Ultimately, it's about promoting sustainability, resilience, and environmental stewardship. 

Efforts of #SaveTheBlue 

Today, we face many serious environmental problems.

  • It is an effort of #SaveTheBlue to mitigate water scarcity, enhance groundwater availability, and fortify sustainable ecosystems.  
  • The Blue Nectar Project leads the way in rainwater harvesting. It focuses on saving and restoring water resources.  
  • This project uses science, community help, and new technologies to fight water shortages. SaveTheBlue combines these efforts to protect our water. 
  • We have a choice to either do something about it or not. #SavetheBlue is a pledge to increase underground water by 10 million liters.  
  • This project aims to collect surface water during the monsoon season and channel it into borewells and nearby water bodies. This process naturally refills the underground water table, a crucial resource under increasing stress due to over-extraction and environmental factors.

By highlighting the need to raise the Earth's water level, it draws attention to the critical importance of addressing global water issues. It serves as a call to action for individuals, communities, and governments to prioritize water conservation and sustainable water use for the health and vitality of our planet's freshwater.  

Technical advances 

The project 'SaveTheBlue'  extends and assists in rainwater harvesting to replenish borewells in collaboration with the Sankalp Rural Development Society (SRDS). Through this method, SRDS collect significant water reserves in just two or three rainy seasons. It also helps build a comprehensive database incorporating rainwater harvesting data quality and availability.  


For every unit sold by Blue Nectar, contribution is made towards #Savetheblue is initiative reflects a commitment to sustainable practices and community welfare.   

Effects of Industries & Population's Growth 

As the population grows and more industries are built, water needs are increasing, putting a lot of pressure on our underground water sources. One big problem worldwide is that we're taking too much groundwater. Many areas depend on it for farming, drinking, and industrial uses. But because we're pumping out too much water, the levels are dropping fast. If we keep this up, we could have a severe water shortage. 

What does data speak? 

As per UNICEF, water scarcity significantly affects women and children because they are often responsible for collecting it. According to it, we have 

  • Almost 4 billion people, about two-thirds of the world's population, don't have enough water for at least one month every year. 
  • More than 2 billion people live in places where there's not enough water available. 
  • By 2025, about half of the people in the world might not have enough water. 
  • Around 700 million people might have to leave their homes because there won't be enough water by 2030. 
  • By 2040, about 1 in 4 kids around the world will live in places where there is a serious problem with not having enough water. 

Our Strategy  

We're teaming up with the Sankalpa Rural Development Society (SLDs) to do something extraordinary! We're using clever ways to fill borewells with rainwater during the monsoon season. This helps stop the water from running out and encourages eco-friendly habits. We're the initiators of "Save the Blue" and use packaging that's good for the environment. What we do now can keep our planet healthy for the kids of tomorrow.
